The Varsity Soccer Team slipped to second in the Flint Metro League standings after splitting their two games this week.
On Monday, Sept. 29, Sophomore Marco Bonfiglio’s hat trick led the comeback victory over Brandon.
They fell behind 1-0 less than five minutes into the game, Bonfiglio came to the rescue by scoring two of his goals before the end of the first half, putting the Wildcats up 2-1.
He put the game out of reach with his third goal early in the second half.
Fenton put an end to the Wildcat’s winning streak when they defeated them 3-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
The Wildcat’s took a 1-0 lead on Senior Captain’s Corey Olson’s goal late in the first half.
However, Fenton responded with two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to take the lead, and added an insurance goal with one minute left in the game.
Oxford is 4-1 in the FML, one point behind Lapeer East. The Wildcat’s look to reclaim first place in the league when they play Lapeer East on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at OES.
