Booters need the ‘winning touch?

The Oxford Varsity boys soccer team is coming off a tough stretch of lost games and is waiting for the ‘winning touch.?
At Monday’s game against rival Lapeer West, both team’s hard work ended at a 0-0 tie.
The second half saw a surge in Oxford’s playing, but it wasn’t enough to rally a goal.
Senior captain David Hurrish was the team’s motivation throughout the game, according to coach John Thaler.
Last Saturday’s game against Romeo, the Wildcats pushed through the first half with a great team effort all around.
The only goal of the game came when Hurrish ran the ball from back field and feeding the ball to junior Doug Kiracofe and into the net by senior captain Andrew Klimbal.
In the second half, the Bulldogs scored on a corner kick, and scored another with 15 minutes left in the game. Oxford lost 2-1.
Last Thursday, Oxford tied 2-2 once again against Davison.
The game started off with a high tempo.
Senior captain Gethin Angell found some space after weaving around some of the Cardinal’s mid-fielders and blasted a swerving shot into the net.
Gethin scored his second goal of the night during the second half with assists from Hurrish and freshman Dan Peck.
With 16 seconds left in the game, Davison tied the score.
Oxford now stands at 1-1-1 in the FML and 3-4-3 overall. The boys take on Fenton tonight at 6:45 p.m.
