The Oxford varsity girls soccer team remains fourth in the Flint Metro League, but seem to be losing steam after some recent games.
At Holly last week, the Wildcats wanted to avenge an early season loss to the Bronchos, but barely scraped together the 1-1 tie.
The first half saw Oxford take numerous shots on the goal, but the girls just ‘couldn’t find their rhythm,? as coach John Thaler put it.
Goal keeper and senior captain Kelly Henry was very strong in the goal and stopped numerous advances by Holly.
Oxford went on to compete against Avondale at home Friday night, and saw senior captain Sam Bono get her 17th and 18th goals of the season, which evened the score to 2-2 before the half.
Though the Wildcats were running short on fuel in the second half, coach Thaler said the girls still played great soccer. Avondale defeated Oxford 5-2.
Oxford now has an overall record of 6-5-3. They travel to North Branch Friday night.
