Coming off of a 3-3 tie against Fenton last Wednesday, the Oxford varsity girl’s soccer team was prepped to take on Brandon, who at the time only had one loss this season.
But the Wildcats pounced on the Eagles with a 4-1 win at home Monday night.
Senior captain Sam Bono started the game off right, with her 10th and 11th goal of the season early in the game.
But it didn’t stop there. Junior Alex Johnson scored on the keeper with a nice swerving shot, followed by yet another shot from Bono, making it her 12th goal of the season and second hat-trick.
During the more relaxed second half, Brandon was able to get on board with a deflection off of two Wildcats which made it into the net.
Senior captain Kelly Henry only had to make a few saves inside the net, but was virtually untested.
Jackie Patterson, Brianna Pastewski, Ashley Marshall and Jacki Pastewski all earned assists that night.
The girls are now 4-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the FML. They travel to Lapeer West for a game tonight.
