Boat Bar to open with new owners

During the mid-1860s the stage- coach stopped at a building near the east shore of Bald Eagle Lake. Hotel rooms were rented upstairs, horses were boarded in the lower section and customers could enjoy a spectacular sunset off the back of the building.
Today, stage coaches and horses are long gone but the sunsets remain, viewed from the back deck of Brandon’s Landing Boat Bar.
After nearly seven months of banter, on Sept. 3 the liquor license transfer of Brandon’s Landing, located between M-15 and Bald Eagle Lake became reality.
“We’re planning extensive upgrades and renovations,” said new owner John Hagar. “We’re soon to meet with the architect and come up with a new theme for the place.”
Hagar, who also owns Bullfrogs Restaurant and Bar, 2225 Ortonville Road, added that in addition to removal of the public landing on Bald Eagle Lake a new seawall, docks, remodeling and improved parking are being considered.
The transfer comes after some debate between township officials, residents, lawyers and Lansing. However, the matter was resolved and the transfer was approved on July 7, 2003.
“It’s the best view in Oakland County,” said Joe Francis, General Manager of Bullfrogs Restaurant and Bar.
