Board of Ed. moves meetings, changes district’s name

The Oxford School Board approved moving their regular meetings to the second and fourth Monday of the month, as opposed to Tuesday nights at their meeting June 24. The change came after it was decided there was time conflicts with other school events. The new dates will begin on July 7.

The board also voted to change the district’s official name to Oxford Community Schools instead of Oxford Area Community Schools. Superintendent Dr. Bill Skilling said it was redundant to have ‘area? and ‘community? in the same phrase. Also, he said that community has a more kindship feel than area.

Jui-Chao Wang was hired as another orchestra teacher for the 2008-09 school year. She joins Nady Benyamine in building a program from the ground up.
