The Brandon boys basketball team couldn’t quite get over the hump in a non-league contest against host Fowlerville Feb. 3.
The Blackhawks hung around all game but ultimately dropped a 54-48 contest to the Gladiators. Brandon fell to 3-10 overall on the season.
Fowlerville held a 13-11 lead after the first quarter, but Brandon came back to tie the contest at 20 at halftime.
The Gladiators helped themselves greatly at the free throw line, shooting 27-of-31 (87.1 percent), compared to Brandon’s 8-of-18 performance from the charity stripe (44.4 percent).
Adam Howard once again proved to be a bright spot for the Blackhawks, scoring 18 points. Gjon Nicaj chipped in with 16 for Brandon.
In a game originally scheduled for Jan. 27, the Blackhawks were routed by host Flint Northern 70-32.
Howard led the Blackhawks with eight points, while Joe Turcsak added seven.
The host Blackhawks were no match for the Flint Metro League rival Holly Bronchos on Jan. 30, as Holly easily prevailed 53-42. The Blackhawks dropped to 2-4 in league play.
Brett Bisbee led Holly with 15 points, while Tom Schaefer led the Blackhawks with 11. Nicaj added 10 for Brandon.
The Blackhawks host Lapeer East Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
