Bat time at school

Second graders at Independence Elementary learned bats were not as scary as they might have thought, thanks to a science assembly, Oct. 26.
“Even though bats might look scary around Halloween, the scientists from the Organization for Bat Conservation from Cranbrook Institute of Science helped the children learn how helpful bats are to humans,” said John Lamb, second grade teacher, along with Jennifer Rohn.
The children spent the week learning about bats and ended the unit with live bats visiting the school, Lamb said.
