Auto crash kills local woman in Davison

A 55-year-old Oxford woman died in a Sept. 7 crash in the 3000 block of S. State Road (M-15) in Davison Twp.
Diana Troia (see obituary on page 17), 55, was killed when the northbound Dodge Caravan in which she was riding was hit by a southbound Chevrolet Blazer which crossed the center line.
The Blazer was driven by an 18-year-old Goodrich man, who as of Monday had not been cited.
The van was driven by the deceased’s husband, Richard Troia, also 55. A couple from Oklahoma City, Okla. were riding along as passengers.
The nature of the other occupants? injuries was not immediately available from police reports, but all apparently were wearing seat belts and air bags were deployed.
Witnesses said another southbound vehicle was stopped, waiting to turn left into Zip’s Party Market. At least one other vehicle was behind that vehicle, and one witness speculated that the driver of the Blazer had little time to react and was trying to avoid a rear-end crash.
‘It was like his tires were sliding,? said Steve Wright Jr., a Zip’s employee who also lives nearby. ‘I think he was taking his chances.?
Wright described the pavement as wet when the crash occurred at about 3:26 p.m.
Wright is among those who have been lobbying for a traffic signal at the nearby intersection of Bristol Road, and said a passing lane is needed in front of the popular convenience store-gasoline station.
