Hundreds of community-minded Clarkston residents filled the home of Jim and Audrey Tanner of Springfield Township at the Open Your Heart fund raiser for Lighthouse North, Feb. 17. This was the second year the Tanners hosted the annual event, the largest fund raiser of the year for Lighthouse Emergency Services on Sashabaw Road.

Developers are looking to build a 100-bed nursing facility at the southeast corner of Clarkston and Sashabaw roads. Independence Township Board voted unanimously, March 1, to approve first reading of an amendment to allow Pine Knob Corporate Center for Medilodge of Clarkston to build it.
