Art students exhibit their works at OAC

The work of young artists from the Lake Orion and Oxford school districts, and from St. Joseph Catholic School, will be on display at the Orion Art Center from Jan. 16 thorugh Feb. 16.
The Fifth Annual Student Art Show reflects the artistic efforts of students at all grade levels, says exhibit coordinator Sue Welch.
‘Having artwork on display as part of an exhibit is a great esteem builder for young artists,? says Welch, who serves on the Orion Art Center’s board. ‘We sincerely hope everyone can visit the center and see the talent of these aspiring artists.?
Welch acknowledged the support of area art teachers and Diana Ostrand of Accent on Art, who provided the matting and shrink wrapping for each artwork being displayed at the show.
Ostrand and her husband, D.J., will serve as honorary chairpersons for the Center’s upcoming Snowflake Ball, to take place Saturday, Feb. 10 at Indianwood Country Club.
Welch says several pieces of student art will be selected for display at the 18th annual gala.
Tickets for the Snowflake Ball are $75 if purchased by Jan. 19. After that date, they will be sold for $85. Tickets will not be available at the door.
In addition to dinner and fine desserts, attendees of the Snowflake Ball will enjoy a bar, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and lively conversation.
