The Orion Art Center will present photography workshops at the William E. Scripps Estate on Saturday, June 21, Saturday, July 12 and Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The workshops will be conducted by William E. Dwyer, an award winning photographer. The fee for the workshop is $100, which includes lunch from Victoria’s Delights Bistro.
The estate, recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, is an architectural jewel and the workshop will give photographers an opportunity to have access to the gorgeous grounds, with limited access to the mansion itself.
Dwyer, a professional photographer with over 30 years experience, has photographed four presidents, Pope John Paul II, numerous musicians and has covered many large scale events.
There will be 90 minutes of class teaching, including learning the mechanics of a camera, creative composition and simple lighting techniques that can lead to powerful photos.
After class, the group will have access to the grounds and the mansion itself to apply the newly learned skills. Dwyer will be present to help individuals as needed.
Photos can be entered into upcoming shows at the OAC with entry fee discounts offered to workshop participants.
Register by calling the OAC at (248)693-4986.
