Area developments sales slow

Brandon Twp.- Sales in the early stages of two township developments has been mixed, but warmer temperature and model homes should turn that around say company officials.
Tim Stapleton, Centex Homes division president for Michigan says sales have been slow in Long Lake Village, the 70 acre development west of M-15 and north of Seymore Lake Road. In the summer 2005 project developers from Silverman Companies of Bingham Farms, Mich. sold Centex Homes, a national home builder the 94 home development.
‘Overall the Detroit Market is slow, but once we get the model homes open in May and perspective residents can walk through the models interest will pick up. Brandon is a great community and when people see how beautiful the land is around these homes they’ll fall in love with them.?
‘We’ve sold about ten homes in Long Lake Village,? said Stapleton. All sales in southeast Michigan are slow right now and we’re a big player in this market.?
Centex Homes are currently in 24 communities locally including Farmington, Rochester Hills, Sterling Heights and Westland. In addition Centex built homes in Golf Highlands near M-24 in Oxford.
The two-story homes will range from 1,600 to 3,200 square feet with homes on 1/4 acre, 70-by-120 feet building lots. Other lot sizes will be available some are a little larger due to the layout of the development and some of the protected environmental areas. Prices will range from the mid $200,000, to the low $300,000 for site premiums and selected options.
Carl Matisse, president of Summit Properties and Development of Clarkston is currently offering new lots and homes on the former Camp Nahelu, near Granger Road between Perry Lake and Hadley roads. The 77 acre development, ‘Bridlewood on the Lake? opened 12 lots about six months ago features access to Perry Lake and includes one acre sites. Plans include phase two with additonal lots.
‘It’s a hard market right now,? said Matisse, Summit owner. ‘We’ve sold two lots in about the last four months. We’d like to do better but it’s the begining of the season and responses are starting to pick up.?
The custom home environment includes lots from about $85,000 and home prices range from 2,000 square feet for ranch homes to the mid-$300,000 for two level homes.
