Talented area kids performed in the musical Once Upon a Mattress Aug. 4-5 at Meadow Brook Theatre on the grounds of Oakland University.
The musical was presented by the Rochester Hills Dance & Arts Society, now in its fifth year producing high energy training for children and youth.
The student cast of 58, ages 6-18 came from all over to participate in the Summer Theatre Conservatory. They learned the fundmentals of staging a play along with acting, vocal and dance technique.
Kaylee Sullivan (in front) of Lake Orion headed up the cast as Princess Winfred. Alexandre Bleau of Lake Orion pantomimed his way through the role of the mute king.
Lake Orion’s Charlie Fournier danced and sang as he interpreted for the king and Michelle Meredith of Lake Orion played a variety of musical instruments in her role as the ministrel.
