Kids involved with Oxford/Addison Youth Assistance (OAYA) will have a greater opportunity to attend a special summer camp next year thanks to the Addison Township Board.
Officials Dec. 18 voted unanimously to allocate $2,500 to the OAYA for their Adopt-A-Camper program for summer 2007.
Youth Assistance provides social services to at-risk youth and their families.
Money for the summer camp program will come from the township’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for next year.
The remaining balance of $4,649 in CDBG funds will go toward public services and transportation in the rural township.
Addison Clerk Pauline Bennett said the township pays approximately $5,000 in dues to OAYA every year, but that it goes directly to administration.
‘Whenever they do fund-raisers or items like (Adopt-A-Camper) it goes strictly to the kids,? she said.
