Officials in Addison Township voted to take North Oakland Transportation Authority’s request for $3,500 of additional funding to help put a bus back on the road ‘into consideration? at their Oct. 16 meeting, stating that they ‘aren’t ready to act? on the increase just yet.
Currently, Addison pays $18,000 per year to NOTA. The additional $3,500 they’re seeking would keep 10 vehicles on the road each day and cost the township $21,500 per year for the service.
Lisa Sokol, who represented NOTA at the township’s meeting, said denying the $3,500 request would ‘dramatically affect? the program.
In a letter to the board, treasurer Dan Alberty said he believes the township will have enough money in their Community Development Block Grant funds to pay ‘a majority? of the township’s contributions to Oxford/Addison Youth Assistance and NOTA, including the additional $3,500, for the next year.
‘I feel we have an obligation to continue these services which have become necessities for the youth and seniors of our township,? he said in the letter.
