On July 28, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of 346 acres of property to add to Addison Oaks County Park, located in Addison Township on Romeo Road.
The additional acreage is located next to the existing 794 acres of the park, to the east along Walker Road.
Oakland County Parks hopes to take possession of the park in the next 90 days. The purchasing agreement is for $3.43 million.
The purchase will be contingent upon the property passing environmental assessments, already being done.
Oakland County Parks plans to use the additional property for recreational uses like cross country skiing, hiking and picnicking.
Another disc golf course could be added, and the county parks plan on having a bark park there in the future.
Oakland County Parks currently operates a bark park at Orion Oaks County Park, located on Joslyn Road in Orion Township.
