A man from Addison Township was arraigned March 24 on two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the 6-year-old son of his live-in girlfriend.
David Anthony Torto, 53, formerly of New York, stands accused of allegedly forcing the 6-year-old boy to perform sexual acts on him while the boy’s mother was absent.
Torto had been living with his girlfriend and her son on the 100 block of Channing Circle in the Hidden Lakes mobile home park.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pete Burkett, commander of the Addison substation, on March 17, the boy ‘described the events in detail? and said Torto had been sexually assaulting him since he was in kindergarten.
Torto denied the allegations, but was eventually arrested March 23 and lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
He’s being held on a $2 million cash bond with no 10 percent provision. A preliminary exam date is set for April 4 in 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills. First-degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
Torto has a lengthy criminal history in New York state, including convictions for unlawful dealing with a minor child in 1972, resisting arrest and harassment in 1979, acting in a manner to injure a child in 1986 and assault with intent to cause injury in 1988.
In 1999, he was also convicted for assaulting a family member in Virginia.
