Ortonville- Coming soon: ‘Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.?
The family film starring Gene Wilder and based on the Roald Dahl novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,? will be shown during the third annual Ortonville Night at the Movies on Aug. 5. Showtime is 9 p.m. with activities for the entire family beginning at 6 p.m. on the hill behind H.T. Burt and Harvey Swanson elementaries, located off Varsity Drive.
The movie will be shown on an inflatable 25-foot-wide screen with a special surface to give the best picture quality possible and sound will be project from a system that is designed for outdoor use.
‘You can see the movie perfectly and the sound is wonderful,? said Connie Babb, president of the H.T. Burt PTA and 2005 Movie Night organizer.
Babb expects about 300 moviegoers, based on last year’s attendance. Popcorn, drinks and other snacks will be available for purchase with proceeds benefitting students at the schools. Picnicking is encouraged before the movie begins, but no grills, glass containers, smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed. Parking is available in front of the schools.
Babb calls the event old-fashioned and family-oriented.
‘It’s fun to sit under the stars with a blanket and your family,? she says. ‘We’re hoping for a good turn-out.?
The event is presented by The Great Outdoors Movies and made free to families by various local businesses and individual donors. Donations are still being accepted. Details: (248) 627-4976.
