Atlas Twp.-Signs can now be seen around the township recognizing Goodrich High School’s championship robotics and cross country and track teams.
Bonnie Wood, an employee of Genesee County’s traffic engineering department, said the cost of such signs is typically ‘a couple thousand dollars.?
The signs are found in six locations: near the intersection of Maple and Irish Roads; M-15 and Maple Road intersection; Hegel Road at county line; M-15 at county line for northbound traffic; near the intersection of Vasser and Baldwin roads and near the Perry and Vasser Roads intersection.
‘A lot of the community schools (post signs) if they have something to brag about, ? said Wood.
Township supervisor Paul Amman said he’d been trying to get the signs up for more than two years.
Amman said the signs were added at the request of the teams? coaches.
The GHS girls cross country team were state champions 2003-2005 and GHS girls track team were state champions 2004-2005. The GHS F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) Robotics team international champions in 2004.
