A 32-year-old Oxford woman was transported to St. Joseph Hospital after allegedly causing an automobile accident at Drahner and M-24 Monday morning.
The woman, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Venture van, was waiting to turn southbound on M-24 from E. Drahner. She proceeded through what she thought was a flashing red light.
As she turned at the intersection, a 45-year-old Lake Orion man driving a 2001 Ford F-150 drove north through the intersection and hit her.
The impact was so forceful, the woman’s vehicle made a 90-degree right turn and went straight into a fence along the Oxford Towne Center.
She was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and was issued a citation for failing to use due care and caution while driving.
According to a sheriff’s deputy, the woman admitted being on her cellular phone before the accident.
