Many area youth recently got to feel what many poverty stricken children and families feel everyday by participating in World Vision’s 30-hour Famine project.
Students from Lake Orion United Methodist Church and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church participated in the fast at United Methodist on March 3-4.
Lake Orion High School had a similar program that weekend, with the LOHS Key Club raising $6,400.
The Gingellville Community Church also hosted a 30-hour Famine event a week earlier.
Students were able to drink water and juice during the 30 hours, but missed three main meals during that time period.
Those at United Methodist participated in a variety of team building events throughout the two days, and did service projects at many area locations on the morning of March 4.
