In less than 10 hours, about 30 area residents, along with supervisors from Playworld Systems, erected a 3,700 square-foot playscape at the Brandon Township Community Park near Hadley and Oakwood roads.
The $90,000 project, funded mostly by grants and cell tower fees will be ready to play on in about four weeks after cement anchors, in addition to landscaping, are completed.
‘I could not be more pleased with the turnout for the project’we worked steady all day. The playscape is not all about just swinging and climbing,? said Fred Waybrant, Brandon Township Recreation Supervisor. ‘There are play panels and wheelchair access. It can even accommodate 100 children at once.?
