Maria Rotondo Mark, owner of the MakeOver Place Salon in Clarkston, decided to do something special for a certain individual.
With the holidays peeking around every corner, Mark wanted to make one wonderful woman feel extra special. Her goal: to find an individual who has not been to a salon in over a year and desperately feels the need for a new look.
‘There is so much confusion about make-overs,? said Mark. ‘I just wanted to see if there was someone out there that would benefit from a makeover.?
Mark posted an ad in Lifestyles. The ad directed interested individuals to write an essay on the reason they feel they should win the free makeover.
‘I want something that reflects my spirit and something I can maintain,? said Cindy Winther, contest winner from Oxford. ‘I just want it be realistic, not something that I am not.?
Winther’s essay won Mark’s heart and she was ready to deliver. After an afternoon of pampering, Mark and Winther realized they had so much in common. Winther is a single mother of three. She recently graduated from Baker College and runs a preschool at the United Methodist Church in Lake Orion. She is busy and was ready to be spoiled.
Winther experienced a two-day session. The first included hair and makeup. The second day was nails and a massage. Winther definitely received a new look. Mark worked her magic and Cindy was thrilled.
‘I do my part to keep America beautiful,? said Mark.
