A concierge for home, biz

While many would associate the word ‘concierge? with that of someone who serves guests at a hotel, Catherine Wendt is redefining the word with her new business ‘Concierge on Wheels, LLC?
‘I’ve been kicking around this idea for a couple of years and I’ve always enjoyed helping people,? Wendt said.
Whether it is for personal life, business, or family related reasons like taking care of elderly parents or homebound family members, Wendt is striving to make people’s lives easier in a professional manner with personalized and individual service.
‘My Tagline is ‘Don’t have time to do an errand, don’t want to do an errand, call me,?? she said. ‘Whether they need me onetime, daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly I am dependent on their need.?
For the busy professionals who don’t have time to run errands, Wendt will do their grocery shopping, take vehicles for oil changes, pick up mail and newspapers during vacations, do last-minute cleanups, and even stocking refrigertors with favorite foods and beverages.
‘I do have memberships at Cotsco and Sam’s Club for people that want (items from those stores),? Wendt said.
She will also do laundry drop-off/pick up, meal delivery from restaurants, some pet care and light housekeeping work.
‘Anything you might call a concierge for, I will do,? she said. ‘You want tickets to an event, I’ll stand in line to get tickets.?
For the businesses she will do gift buying, post office runs, court filings, notary public and deliveries to and from lawyer’s office. For family situations she will do in home assistance after surgery, lending a hand for new moms and offer non-medical elder assistance.
‘Unfortunately people are now caring for their parents,? she said. ‘I can either help them or help the parent, whichever is more needed, so they’re able to focus on that parent.?
Wendt also noted that she is fully bonded and insured. ‘That is important for a lot of people, including me. It protects me and it protects them,? she said. I don’t want anything of course to happen, but if it does at least we’re all covered.?
Her rate is regularly $20 an hour plus the cost of the errand, but currently she is running a special of $18 an hour for new clients. Her hours are Mon-Sat, 9 a.m. ? 6 p.m.
‘Gift certificates are available,? she said. ‘If someone wants to buy my services for a couple or however many hours, I would go and help whoever they purchased it for.?
As far as her personal life Wendt and her husband of 32 years, Richard moved to Oxford 15 years ago. While raising her kids, she worked from home which included her own business: Efficient Typing Services, working as a legal assistant for 10 years and typing up medical reports for doctor and physical therapy offices.
‘My kids are grown, so I don’t need to stay home anymore,? she said. ‘I want to go out into the world and be social again and make a business in the process.?
