Paul La Verne Walker of Orion Township died on June 5, 2024 at McLaren Oakland Hospital after a fall in his home. Born July 11, 1942, he was 81 years old. He is survived by his sister Pamela Taxe and his two children, Christopher Walker and Lindsey Johnston. Paul was the very model of an American born mid-century. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1964, he served five years in the U.S. Navy, including two in Vietnam. On June 25, 1966 he married Geraldine Ann Andrusko in Warminster, Pennsylvania. They shared a full and happy life together until her death in 2007. After his military service, Paul worked as an executive engineer at a number of major industrial and automotive concerns, including Chrysler Corporation and The Kershaw Company. But his true love was firefighting. Serving as Director of Engineering at American LaFrance in Elmira, New York was a dream come true. He visited every fire house he ever passed and talked for hours about what they needed most in their equipment. More than this, he was a devoted husband and a dedicated father. He will be missed dearly. Services will be held later this summer in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania for both Paul and his late wife Gerrie Ann before he is laid to rest in the Pacific Ocean. Contact Chris or Pam for details. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
