The All For Oxford Resiliency Center is offering a workshop series for parents beginning Nov. 1. All services at All for Oxford are free of charge. Below are the descriptions for each session.
Nov 1: Is this normal? Sometimes it can feel like we are figuring this out alone. Sometimes it feels like we are the only ones experiencing the symptoms. But you are not alone, you are not the only one. This session will help you understand the ways in which trauma can affect you and your children, create an understanding of what is normal and find the ways in which our experiences connect us.
Nov 15: Building Your Toolbox: Self-care and coping. It is easy to feel burned out after facing a traumatic event, or when caring for people who have faced a traumatic event. Join us to learn some of the coping strategies for stress and anxiety, as well as ways to implement them on a consistent basis.
Nov 29: How I can help? Have you ever felt at a loss or overwhelmed with how you could help those around you? Join us to discuss the ways you can help yourself, your loved ones, and your community, as well as learn how to identify when it is time to seek professional guidance.
Dec 13: Building a new normal. We don’t always want a new normal. It can sometimes feel scary or maybe even dismissive. But after a traumatic culture-shifting tragedy, a new normal faces us. Join us in learning how to build resilience in this new normal and move forward without forgetting.
All workshops are at the center, 1370 S. Lapeer Rd. and each are offered at two different times, one during the day at 1 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m. Register to attend one or all of the workshops at: www.allforoxford.org/events. For more information call center at 248-653-5511.
