The Goodrich girls basketball team is one step away from a district title.
The Martians dominated Richmond 72-30 in a Class B district semifinal game Nov. 19 at Mt. Clemens High School. Goodrich (19-3) advanced to take on Mt. Clemens in the district final Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
In their district opener Nov. 17, the Martians jumped to a 9-2 first-quarter lead and handily defeated Armada 52-17. All 12 players who saw playing time for the Martians scored.
Shannon Harbin led the Martians with eight points, while Maribeth Barns added six points and five assists and Michelle Elliott six points. Jacci Brothers contributed five steals for the Martians.
In their last game of the regular season Nov. 13, the Martians cruised to a 64-21 win against host Montrose.
Goodrich used a balanced attack to get the job done, as 10 Martians scored in the contest. The Martians blew the game open with a 26-3 second quarter that put them up 46-13 at halftime.
Barns scored 12 points and Nykole Pfaff 11 to pace Goodrich.
