GHS boys soccer ousted by Frankenmuth

A good season for the Goodrich boys soccer team ended against a tough opponent.
Visiting Frankenmuth broke a 2-2 halftime deadlock and scored two goals to defeat the host Martians 4-2 in Division III district semifinal action Oct. 22. The Martians? season ended with a record of 9-3-4.
Frankenmuth scored their third goal of the game about 20 minutes into the second half, and scored an insurance goal late in the game. Senior Brian Bourcier scored both goals for the Martians in the first half.
Goodrich coach Nigel Barnett said Frankenmuth, who also defeated the Martians 3-1 in the regular season, was a top-notch foe.
‘They punish your mistakes,? Barnett said. ‘They’re a very good outfit. I have a lot of respect for their abilities.?
Goodrich will have to reload next season, as they lose 15 seniors to graduation. Barnett said the Martians will rely a lot on juniors and sophomores next year, and is looking forward to the challenge.
‘We have a lot of younger, talented players,? he said.
