Goodrich boys soccer squad advances to regional semifinals

The Goodrich boys soccer team took the first step in pursuit of a district title.
The Martians had little trouble in their Division III district opener Oct. 20, easily defeating host Mt. Morris 5-0. The Martians are now 10-3-4.
Goodrich closed their regular season Oct. 17 by battling Clio to a scoreless draw, the sixth time in eight tries the Martians have held their opponents scoreless.
On Oct. 16, the Martians clinched the South Division championship of the Valley Soccer Association with a 3-3 tie against Saginaw Nouvel. The Martians (9-1-2 in the league) needed a win or tie to defeat Nouvel for the title.
Goodrich took on Frankenmuth (which defeated North Branch 11-1 in its district opener Oct. 20) in the regional semifinals Oct. 22 at Goodrich. The winner of that game took on the winner of the other district semifinal game between LakeVille and Lake Fenton in the Oct. 24 district final.
