Synopsis, Regular Meeting, Monday, April 2, 2018
Meeting called to order at 7:04 p.m.
Invocation: Eric Johnson, King of Kings Lutheran Church. All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Recognized Scott Taylor for as Citizen of the Month for his fundraising efforts on behalf of the Orion on Deck project.
Heard updates concerning the annual Green Up Orion event, and the Consumers Energy pipeline.
Supervisor Barnett delivered proclamations regarding Severe Weather Awareness Week and Fair Housing Month.
Approved payment of bills in the amount of $346,262.89, payrolls in the amount of $122,864.21, for a total disbursement of funds of $469,127.10.
Approved the agenda, as amended. Approved the consent agenda, as amended.
Approved the Minutes of the March 19, 2018 Regular Meeting.
Authorized seeking proposals for the Wildwood Amphitheater parking lot paving project.
Approved the peddlers license application for David Peters for ice cream sales from a truck, pending receipt of appropriate insurance.
Adopted Charitable Gaming Resolution, recognizing the Lake Orion Lions Club Charities, Inc., as a local charity in order to allow them to apply for a raffle license from the State of Michigan.
Approved modification to Prieskorn Golf Enterprises Consent Judgment to allow for payment in lieu of traffic signal installation at Silverbell and Kern Road intersection.
Approved request from the Lions Club to allow for roadside solicitations, with the understanding that the free flow of traffic will not be impeded.
Approved the replacement of the Civic Center Park irrigation drive system, at a cost of $9,812.00.
Approved new 60-month copier lease agreement with Michigan Office Solutions, with a monthly cost of $1,605.63, and authorized the necessary budget adjustments.
Authorized proceeding with the cost estimate for the Holliday Drive Private Road Maintenance Special Assessment District #2.
Authorized posting the position of the Chief Assistant to the Supervisor position.
Approved amending Building Department fee schedule to allow for a $180 fee for building inspections conducted outside of normal work hours.
Approved the application to sell concessions at Township Parks from Matt McCallum of Kona Ice.
Appointed Treasurer Donni Steele as Orion Township’s Alternate to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).
Approved Consent Judgment in the matter of RCOC v. L/D Investment Co., LLC.
Received and filed the Treasurer’s 4th Quarter 2017 Investment Report.
Authorized the formation of an ad-hoc committee in order to begin a feasibility study for a new Township Hall facility.
Held second reading and adopted the Minor in Possession Ordinance, as presented.
Approved the Mutual Release of All Claims and Settlement Agreement in the matter of the Orion Township v. The Dailey Company, et al, and authorized the Supervisor and Attorney to execute the agreement.
Received and filed Supervisors statement regarding a human resource matter; authorized investigating the possibility of hiring outside counsel/human resources support.
Received and filed the Police/Fire reports.
Received and filed the 2018 Solid Waste Hauler licensing report.
Received and filed the Fire Station #1 update report.
