Blackhawks? fourth-quarter comeback falls short against Lapeer West 21-14

In the end, Lapeer West simply had too much of a lead for the Brandon football team to overcome.
The Blackhawks scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns but ultimately fell to West 21-14, dropping their record to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Flint Metro League.
Brandon scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Devin White to junior Jason Ledgerwood in the fourth, as well as a 21-yard touchdown run by junior running back Derek Foyt with 53 seconds left. Foyt led the Blackhawks with 106 yards rushing on five carries.
‘Defensively, we played one of our better games,? Brandon coach Ron Gill said. ‘We put ourselves deep in a hole with turnovers. The kids keep battling and they don’t quit and they’ve shown a lot of heart.?
The Blackhawks played their last home game of the season Oct. 10 against Fenton. ‘This is the seniors? last home game, and there’s a lot riding on that for them,? Gill said.
Their next contest is Oct. 17, when they travel to LakeVille for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Falcons are currently 3-3 overall after a 34-7 loss to Montrose Oct. 5. They are led by running back-outside linebacker Britt Berridge and wide receiver-defensive back Dan Moorhouse.
