Nominations are now being accepted for the Oakland County Executive’s Elite 40 Under 40 Class of 2017.
The 40 Under 40 program was started in 2012 by County Executive L. Brooks Patterson to honor young professionals and thought leaders who excel in their field and have demonstrated exceptional leadership.
Lake Orion’s own Brian Birney, President and CMO of The Birney Directive, a marketing service to small businesses, was selected to be a part of the 2016 Oakland County Executive Elite 40 Under 40 Class.
“It’s a good way to keep successful and qualified people in our county and communities. Whether it’s working for someone, or owning their own business, I think it’s important for those members to be recognized,” said Birney.
Birney shared that “having access to L. Brooks Patterson and being able to meet with him, Matt Gibb and the rest of the Executive Team for the county has been very beneficial as well.”
Any person who has made contributions in their chosen field is eligible for nomination, be it a community leader, teacher or entrepreneur. Nominees must live or work in Oakland County to be eligible.
“There is a sea of engaged, eager and passionate leaders who are committed to making a difference in business, the community and in people’s lives,” said County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. “We are blessed to have so many talented young people who are vital to Oakland County and the region. If you know one or more of these young men and women – or you want to nominate yourself – I encourage you to submit a name for consideration.”
To submit a candidate, go to www.AdvantageOakland.com/Elite40. Nominations must be completed by Nov. 1. A panel of former Elite 40 class members will review and score all completed applications from Nov. 17 through Dec. 1.
An independent panel of judges will then choose the top 40 from the former panels chosen 60 from Jan. 8-16. The winners will be announced in February.– Georgia Thelen
