Cemetery needs repair to properly honor loved ones
I’m continuously shocked and disappointed by the conditions at the East Lawn Cemetery.
I have contacted the Village Offices several times now and asked why this is not being maintained and what can we do as a community to help ensure the cemetery is taken care of.
All I hear is a long list of excuses: it has not rained, it did rain, it snowed, we don’t have the funds, one of our guys is out sick, and so on.
I’m sorry, but it’s time to stop with the excuses. If the Village cannot handle the job of properly maintaining the cemetery, then it’s time to outsource this job.
But these conditions cannot be accepted. There are areas that are still not repaired from last winter.
No one should ever visit their loved one and find the grass over a foot tall. Or that eight months ago a machine ripped the grass apart, down to the dirt over a grave, and it is still not repaired.
These are the final resting places of our loved ones. Please take care of our cemetery.

Repair East Lawn Cemetery
I have seen several pictures from close relatives over the last year showing the poor condition of Eastlawn Cemetery.
The lawn hasn’t been mowed in a long time and it appears that a truck got stuck over my Mother’s gravesite and left deep tire tracks. These tire tracks have been there for more than seven months.
I called the Village of Lake Orion earlier this summer to discuss the condition of the cemetery and at that time they assured me that these maintenance items would be fixed, but according to the lastest photos nothing has been done yet.
Since we don’t live in the area I can’t repair the lawn myself and must rely on the Village to live up to their responsibility and provide this service.
