Brandon boys and girls harriers compete at invite

The Brandon cross-country teams tested their skills at the Chesaning Invitational Sept. 11.
For the boys team, Brad Lawrence placed 21st at the invite, finishing with a time of 17:59 for the 3.1 mile course and earning medalist honors in the process. As a team, Brandon finished 12th out of 15 teams at the invite with 289 points.
Ann Arbor Huron won the invite with 30 points, while Flushing finished second (101) and Carman-Ainsworth third (105).
Other top Brandon competitors were Trevor DeWitt (49th, 19:03) and Chris Holton (66th, 19:33).
The girls team placed 8th out of 11 teams with 168 points. Kearsley finished first at the invite (60), followed by Hartland (78) and Mt. Pleasant (98).
Kayla Doan placed 12th in the meet (21:47), while Kelsey Carmean finished 13th (21:48) and Jackie Back 25th (22:37). Kelly Craciun (24:47) medaled in the reserve race.
Casey Nesterowich was named Brandon’s runner of the meet for cracking the top seven on the team and running a personal best time of 26:22.
