Synopsis, Regular Meeting, Monday, July 18, 2016
Meeting called to order at 6:25 p.m.
Held closed executive session to discuss attorney opinion letter/pending litigation.
Directed Attorney to proceed as discussed regarding pending litigation.
Invocation: John Reilly. All rose for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Recognized Carl Cyrowski as Citizen of the Month due to his efforts in making the Lake Orion Fireworks a success.
Heard presentations regarding the local ballot questions: Lake Orion Schools Sinking Fund proposal and the two Public Safety millages.
Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $3,480,841.80, payrolls in the amount of $119,395.64, for a total disbursement of funds in the amount of $3,600,237.44.
Postponed approval of the July 5, 2016 minutes, pending verification of motion and resolution concerning Human Rights Resolution.
Approved Minutes for the Public Hearing regarding Bunny Run Lake Water Quality Control S.A.D. #1 – Cost Estimate and Work Plan, July 5, 2016.
Approved the request for a Special Permit for the Lake Orion Lions – Wildwood Music Festival on August 13, 2016, under Ord. 76, Alcoholic Beverages Regulation, pending LCC approval, and waived the $300 application fee.
Approved the request for an Outdoor Assembly License from Applied Manufacturing Technologies for an open house event to be held August 11, 2016, subject to compliance with all Township regulations.
Approved the request for an Outdoor Assembly License from Kensington Church for a free barbeque competition event to be held on August 6, 2016, and waived the $100 application fee.
Approved the request to use Township property (Fire Hall parking area) for the Lake Orion Art Center’s Dragon on the Lake Festival, to be held August 25 – 28, 2016.
Authorized the Supervisor to sign the METRO Act Permit Bilateral agreement for Mobilitie, LLC, on behalf of the Township.
Adopted the RCOC Resolution allowing for the temporary closure of Kirksway Ct. for a neighborhood block party, subject to compliance with all Township requirements.
Reduced the annual sign permit fee for the Orion Art Center to $25.00 and allowed for the placement of 11 banner signs advertising the Dragon on the Lake Event, subject to property owner approval and compliance with all other provisions of the ordinance.
Reduced the annual sign permit for St. Mary’s in the Hills Episcopal Church to $25.00 and allowed for the distribution of flyers to advertise their August 6, 2016 community fundraiser.
Motion to establish an Ethics Committee failed.
Adopted Resolution Regarding the Use of Township Property for Campaign Purposes.
Approved Tax Sharing Agreement between Oakland County, Orion Township and the Orion Township Corridor Improvement Authority.
Received and filed the DNR land swap update report.
