A husky stolen from a parking lot of a Kroger store in Bloomfield Township has been found in the 2500 block of Mann Road in Independence Township, 10:43 p.m., Dec. 15.
Joseph Stephen Benson, 29, was arraigned in 48th District Court on a misdemeanor count of larceny over $200 but less than $1,000.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Bloomfield Township officers in the arrest. The dog, Kodi, was taken about 7 p.m., Dec. 14.
His owner, Chris Barnett, said he left Kodi tied to a pole for about 20 minutes. Witnesses led police to Benson after the case hit social media.

His bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety pending a Jan. 7 pretrial hearing before Judge Marc Barron. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of $2,000.
