At a special school board meeting on April 29, AdvancED recommended Goodrich Area Schools for accreditation for a five year term ending June 30, 2020.
The final report will be issued in 30 days.
‘We are pleased to have accreditation for another five years,? said David Cramer, school board president. ‘However, there are aspects we need to work on. More details will be available to the staff within the next month.?
The three day accreditation process incorporated a team of five educators from AdvancED? who examined student performance results, instructional quality, learner and family engagement, support services for student learning, curriculum quality and efficacy and college and career readiness data in Goodrich School District. AdvancED represents 20 million students in 36 states and is the largest community of educators in the world that conducts on-site external reviews of kindergarten through 12th grade schools. ance counselors, seven board members, 13 support staff, 12 parents and community parents and community partners and 55 students. The data was gathered in seven learning environment domains including equitable, high expectations, supportive, active progress monitoring, feedback, well managed and digital.
The data indicated that Goodrich was slightly below six of the seven categories when compared to other schools in the AdvancED data. However, the scores exceeded the levels required for accreditation.
‘The process is very intense and the staff put forth a great effort in providing the AdvancED team information for the evaluation,? he said.
‘It boils down to the classroom and the staff and I am very proud of them. The accreditation process cost the district about $10,000 but is worth every dime when students choose Goodrich.?
