Artists are invited to share their recycled works of art every fourth Saturday until September at the Recycled Art Market.
The monthly market is part of a recycling effort to give new life to items bound for landfills, said Sarah Angelini, farmers market organizer.
“We encourage them to come here and use what otherwise would be garbage in interesting ways,” Angelini said. “We also have a clothing swap, where you can trade in clothes you don’t want and get something new. In the future, we might want to do book swaps, too.”
Safe Harbor Recycling collects computers, electronics, metal items, appliances, rechargeable batteries, and other items, a popular service at the market.
“People go home and come back later with items for recycling,” said recycler Patty Clair.
The next Recycled Art Market will be on Aug. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., during the Clarkston Area Farmers Market in the Renaissance High School parking lot, 6448 Waldon Road.
