Geek campaign

Nancy Grimmer was in Clarkston Independence District Library one day when she saw posters of friends and neighbors on the wall and wondered why.
Told about the ‘What do you Geek? campaign, she found she could participate as well. She brought her dog Bailey, who participates in the Read to Paws program in the library, in for the photo.
‘I also wanted to promote Read to Paws,? said Grimmer.
Photographer Mari Latozas takes the pictures, which are made into posters and displayed in the library. Visitors can also buy ‘What do you Geek? posters and t-shirts.
Bailey is in the photo with the statement, ‘I geek Read to Paws.?
What do you Geek is part of a nationwide campaign spearheaded by a grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The campaign started at the Clarkston-Independence Library in the beginning of November and will run until the beginning of April. Future photo sessions are being scheduled, said Library Director Julie Meredith.
‘It’s an opportunity to talk about what people are interested and to find out help the library adapt to what people want from the library,? Meredith said.
