Grapplers beat Adams, fall to Clarkston

Oxford’s varsity grapplers won one and lost one in Clarkston Jan. 23.
The Wildcats pinned Rochester Adams to a final score 44 to 22.
Winners included: Alex Hirsopoulos, 103 pounds, Matt Lillie, 125 pounds, Wesley Maskill, 160 pounds, and Zach Wood, 285 pounds, by void. At 112 pounds, Dan Curtis went three rounds and defeated Justin Schofield 8-0. Edwin Schlickenmeyer pinned Alex Ptoniec in 5:50 at 130 pounds. At 135 pound weight class Adam Schlicht, defeated Will Tang and at 152 pounds Rocco Borg beat Jack Addy in three rounds, 12-4. At 171 pounds Marty Giannola defeated Steven Lott 5-1.
While hoping for another win against Clarkston, the Wolves were let out of their den and took the Wildcats to the mat with a 35 to 25 win.
Dan Curtis went three round with Brett Foltz at 119 to get the 4-3 win. At 135 pounds, Adam Schlicht pinned Kyle Masters in 31 seconds. Rocco Borg also got a pinfall at 152 pounds, against Kas waitkus in 1:22. At 285 pounds, Zach Wood took Luis Reyes to three overtimes before getting the win 3-2 with an escape.
The boys? next meet will be the OAA Tournament at home on Saturday, Feb. 2, starting at 10 a.m. Then team districts start on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Lake Orion. Individual districts will be Saturday Feb. 9 at Wylie E. Groves in Beverly Hills.
