Too many, 12-12-12 wasn’t just another set of numbers on the old calendar; it was a date to celebrate because it won’t happen again for another 100 years.
Such is the case for one Oxford grandmother, Terry Runyon, whose daughter Tia gave birth to a granddaughter.
Ava Lynn Sherman entered the world at 5:28 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2012. She weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.
‘It was awesome,? Runyon said.
Part of what made it awesome was that Tia’s due date was Dec. 5, but Runyon predicted the baby would arrive Dec. 12.
‘I told her all you (have) to do is go a week over and you can have 12-12-12,? she said. ‘I wasn’t very popular with anybody because it was an extra week.?
When Tia went to the hospital on Dec. 11, Runyon didn’t think her daughter would hold out long enough to make it to Dec. 12, and then came a sign.
‘I parked my vehicle next to my daughter’s, got out and found 12 cents on the ground,? she said. ‘Twelve cents. I think she can hold out for tomorrow. It’s got to be, here is another 12.?
Runyon is saving those 12 cents and newspapers bearing that date, so Ava can read them when she gets older.
While, Runyon is excited to have guessed Ava’s birthday correctly, it’s not the first time she has done it. When she found out two years ago one of her other children were going to have a baby, she picked Dec. 8. On December, 08, 2010 her grandson Kaden Runyon was born.
‘Now everybody is going to ask me,? she said with a laugh. ‘The pressure is on.?
