From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Sept. 15, M-15 Urgent Care, 250 North Ortonville Road, will host the Ortonville Health & Safety Expo.
‘This is a free event,? said Nena Woodall, M-15 Urgent Care office manager. ‘If you’re not up on your health it’s a great way to start. Today it’s a struggle for a lot of families given the state of the economy and the cost of health care. The expo will provide a host of screenings and information as a way to assist individuals to get on a track to good health.?
In partnership with McLaren Oakland and United Healthcare, the M-15 Urgent Care organized the first annual Health Expo 2012. The event will feature health screenings including blood pressure, total cholesterol and glucose, body mass index, osteoporosis screening, pulmonary function testing, foot screening, hearing testing, vision testing, chiropractic screening and stroke risk assessment. Safety activities include the poison display game, the water safety challenge, fatal vision goggles, free smoke alarms along with free bike helmets to the first 100 children. Car seat inspections are from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
‘We are also seeking other area businesses to participate in the expo by donating monetarily,? she said. ‘The funds will help provide children activities such as gift cards, products or services to be given away for raffles.?
Booths and tables are also available for businesses at the expo.

M-15 Urgent Care opened in September 2011 in the Bueche’s Plaza. The facility includes physicians and nurse practitioners who can treat all acute and common illnesses and infections, as well as minor injuries and fractures. Sports and employment physicals along with immunizations including tetanus, flu and meningitis shots, are also offered.
The 1,800 square-foot facility features examination rooms, including one used for minor surgeries and treatment of fractures. X-rays, EKGs and laboratory services are all on-site and a state-of-the-art system allows electronic medical records and digital x-rays to be transmitted instantaneously to a radiologist or a patient’s general physician.
