The Oxford soccer team got off to a great start this season with three quick league victories and another over Swartz Creek last week to start the season at 4-0.
Unfortunately, the Wildcats? good fortunes vanished over the weekend when the team lost three games in its annual soccer tournament.
The Cats defeated Swartz Creek last week in a dominating performance, getting two goals from Paul Tomaka and another from Travis Simat for the 3-0 win.
Oxford’s defense did a great job of shutting down any offense by the Dragons, holding them to only two shots on goal. Oxford had eight shots on goal.
Simat scored the first goal on a nice pass from senior Jacob Wysocki in the first half. In the second half, Tomaka had two goals, one came on an assist from Simat.
Goalkeeper Connor Bandel made one save for the shutout.
On Saturday, Oxford hosted its annual soccer tournament which included teams from Dexter, Lapeer East, Troy, Midland dow and Lake Orion.
The Wildcats proved to be kind hosts and was shutout in each of its three losses. Oxford dropped its first game, 2-0, to Dexter and then lost two close matches by identical 1-0 margins to Lake Orion and Lapeer East.
The Wildcats had games at home against West Bloomfield and at Farmington Hills Harrison this week.
