Indianwood Golf Course won’t be the only place to shoot a ‘hole-in-one? this week. The Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is hosting its second annual free Mini-Golf event July 14 and 15.
‘Last year was our first year. We had over 400 people golf, so it was a really great turnout,? said DDA Director Suzanne Perreault. ‘This year I think more people are looking forward to it and it’s sort of in conjunction with the PGA Senior Open at Indianwood, we’re just trying to carry out the whole golf theme throughout the community.?
Putting greens will line the recently renovated sidewalks as families can participate by playing a free round of miniature golf. The DDA is partnering with the Westwynd Golf Club for this event and 18 downtown businesses and organizations will create their own hole.
Players can pick up their golf ball and scorecard at the information booth at the corner of Broadway and Flint and stroll around the downtown. No need to bring your own putter as several size putters will be available at each hole. Players can also vote for their favorite hole after playing. Prizes will be given away to players every hour as well as for the best score. The Westwynd Golf Club is donating a membership to the business who wins the ‘Best Hole? contest.
‘We’re offering a free, fun, filled event for families to come downtown and ‘putt? around,? Peerault said.
The event will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information call the Lake Orion DDA at 248-693-9742 or visit downtownlakeorion.org
