Oxford’s varsity bowling teams started the second half of season on a strong note with convincing wins over Troy on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The varsity girls shut out Troy 30-0, while the boys won 18-12.
According to head coach JR Lafnear, the boys won the first baker game 193-172. Troy responded by winning game two 186-182.
However, Oxford blew the match open in the first head-to-head game when all five bowlers won their individual match. Senior Mitch Guzanek rolled a game high 224 and sophomore Brandon Hurlburt followed with a 219.
Other winners for Oxford include Kyle Woody (193), Sean McKinney (192) and Shawn Donaldson (145).
Oxford closed out the match when Woody won his second game 205-134.
The boys moved to 3-2 in Oakland Activities Association play.
Oxford’s girls upped their record to 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 following their decisive victory.
Senior captain Heather Lafnear led Oxford with games of 235 and 216, while senior Caitlyn Wroblewski rolled a 233 game.
Both the boys and girls are tied for second with Clarkston in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division.
