With late conversations with the township attorney, Independence Township Trustee David Lohmeier pushed back his superintendent proposal to the Nov. 15 meeting.
Lohmeier had announced at a special meeting, Oct. 25, that his choice for superintendent was either fellow Trustee Larro Rosso or Trustee Neil Wallace.
Wallace said at the Nov. 1 meeting he ‘rejected the idea.?
Earlier in the year when the board was talking about the possibility of appointing a temporary supervisor, Wallace had indicated to Lohmeier he was willing to take on that role and give up his elected position as trustee.
‘However, the supervisor’s reaction to our effort to try and accomplish something to fill the lack of leadership warned me off of that,? Wallace said. ‘Together with some other considerations that I believe would have hampered my ability to be as effective as I would have liked to be.?
Rosso said he ‘appreciated? Lohmeier’s confidence in him, but would not be able to accept ‘due to personal and health reasons.?
Lohmeier said he is still moving forward and still has a ‘little bit of hope.?
“They are still my first and second choices and I still think it would be better to have someone that’s deeply involved in our current activities take the reigns.? Lohmeier said. ‘But I will adjust my thinking and open myself to the possibility it may have to be somebody else. I’m just not quite sure who that person would be.?
