Oxford soccer team kicks it up a notch

The Lady Cat soccer team put up a good fight against Linden, one of the top ranked teams in the division, on Monday. The final score for the night was 2-1.
Deann Kujawa scored her fourth goal of the season. Coach Val Cerato said that once again she handled a break away opportunity beautifully.
‘She got the ball behind the defense again, took it away, and the waited patiently for the goalkeeper to come out a little before taking the shot,? said Cerato.
In the first half, Oxford had six goal shots compared to Linden’s 15, and only eight for the entire game.
Highlight players for the night were goalie Nicole Carter and Nicole Bennett, who played up top for the night. Carter had 12 saves with many of the shots directly at the goal, while Bennett kept the game moving.
‘Nicole Carter our goalie is what kept us in the game,? said Cerato.
JV player Gena Nelson came up for the night to help out the Lady Cats.
Oxford plays again tonight (Wednesday) at Utica Eisenhower.
