The veterans of Lake Orion remembered the fallen of their number Memorial Day, with a ceremony at the Orion Veteran’s Memorial on M-24 and Odanah Street.
Starting with speeches from Ernest Baker, of the North Oakland VFW Post 334, the event featured members from all branches of the military, including the Oakland Young Marines who led the pledge of allegiance and patriotic music played the 338 U.S. Army Band.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of forty military personnel from Orion who died in the line of duty and the unveiling of four plaques commemorating the heroic actions of four veterans. The plaques now surround the new ‘meditation area.?
