Armageddon might have come two days late for the varsity girls soccer team.
Senior goalie Sarah Stroope broke her collarbone and possibly suffered a concussion during the Wildcats 3-2 victory over Birmingham Seaholm on Monday, May 23.
The injury happened 10 minutes into the game when Stroope went out to play a ball and collided with a Seaholm player.
‘It was a clean hit,? varsity girls head coach Larry Ferris said. ‘She just played a ball she never play and hit her collarbone.?
Senior Taylor Healy filled in as keeper for the rest of the game, making 11 saves.
Ferris said he was going to call up his junior varsity goalie to play against Rochester Hills Stoney Creek on Wednesday, May 25 and in the district opener against Clarkston on Tuesday, May 31.
Senior Beth Downs had a goal and an assist for Oxford, while junior Brianna Johnson scored two goals to lead the Wildcats.
Clarkston previously beat the Wildcats 6-1 on Thursday, May 19. Oxford beat Farmington Hills Harrison 5-0 on Tuesday, May 17.
The Wildcats finished 7-1-3 in the OAA White division.
